mailinglist automation

giovle
Hi,

I want people to be able to subscribe to either one of two mailinglists that I created (1ebach@giovle.frihost.net and 2ebach@giovle.frihost.net). To make it really easy, I wanted to let it go automatically. I read on the helpsite that you can send a mail to e.g. 1ebach-digest-request@giovle.frihost.net with "subscribe" as the message body.

How can I do that? I can create buttons, but I don't know how to make them work. The only thing the button has to do is send a preformed email with the message body "subscribe" to 1ebach-digest-request@giovle.frihost.net.

Can somebody please help me?

Thx,

Giovanni

This is the wrong forum for this. And to answer your question, you'll need something that can monitor the email accounts and do what needs to be done based on what comes in. This is done with PHP, ASP, Perl, or some other server-side program. The best for this is Mailman. You can use this here (or any host with cPanel or Plesk [or any other ACP that can control it]) by going to 'Mailing Lists' in the Mail area of cPanel. I don't know about DirectAdmin, because I've never used it.

you will need php for that
php is an extension of html and ends in ".php"

it will help you alot in automated things such as email or mailing lists

if you have more questions about it. go to the php board or just go to a library and look up some php tutorial/reference books!

happy php book hunting!^^
