I have seen few ads which say "Domain Name for life/ for ever". I don't understand what it means. Will the domain registered forever?
Domain Name for life - what is this?
Most domains need to be re-regestered every year, paying for it again.
A Domain 4 Life lasts in your possession forever.

You must have seen this with any web hosting offer. Basically, they just register the domain for you till the time you are hosted with them. It could be lifelong if you host all your life with them
What i know is that a person can keep a Domain name only 10 years maximum.

That's not true. A domain name can only be registered for a maximum of 10 years at a time. Once the 10 years are up (or nearly up), the original domain owner will still have the option to renew for another period of time up to a maximum of 10 years.
This site has quite a good description of the process.
