what is the day today?

muhendisabi
Lion lies on monday, wednesday and friday and
Tiger lies on Tuesday, thursday and saturday
A man goes to the jungle and talks to the tiger
tiger says that "i lied yesterday" and lion also says that "i lied yesterday" what is the day today?
LeviticusMky
Wouldn't this suggest that today could be any day except Sunday or Monday?
Cibes
Yeah, there is definetely more than one solution!
muhendisabi
both the tiger and lion can say " i lied yesterday" on any day, because they would be saying the truth on the days when the don't lie, and they would be lying on the days when the lie.

It is similar to the liar's paradox: Both a liar and a person who speaks the truth will both say "I speak the truth". There is no information in that.

and we assume that the pets did not lie ONLY on said days, then I would guess it must be any day except Sunday and Monday.

Since neither lies on Sunday.. both could not say they lied yesterday, that is referring to Saturday. On Monday only the lier could say he lied yesterday.

So... either there is not an answer... we're missing something, the assumptions are wrong, or the problem is malformed.

Well, the day is Thursday, I think. If my answer is right I can explain how I got it. It is a long process and I can't be sure of accuracy since I did it in my head in almost no time at all. Though, we have to assume that the tiger and the lion tell the truth on the other days. Otherwise, you can't determine an answer.

I agree with Leviticus, from tue till sat, at any given time 1 is telling the truth and 1 is lying. Both can't tell the truth on the same day as they lie on alternate days.

@muhendisabi

Ah, nevermind. I made an error. Yeah, it's basically going to be any day except Sunday or Monday.

But, I think the problem is flawed. Just now, I remembered answering this problem years ago. But it was different, I think.

Babsta
so it's Thursday?
gaurav.baral1
i would go for any other day except Sunday for which the previous day is both monday and tuesday or tuesday and wed or so on....
the question does not seem to have any suitable answer .

(No kidding. Any day is a reasonable answer, given the problem. The problem says that lion lies on X days and the tiger lies on Y days. It does not say they don't lie on the other days.)

The day of today is too short than 1000 years ago, today the time was cuted

It's Thursday (or Saturday).

You didn't say that the man went to the jungle and asked both the tiger and the lion on the same day. So he asked Tiger first, on Wednesday, then slept, woke up, and asked the lion.

It's easy one. Answer is: any day except monday and sunday.. Simple logic..
nisibdv
I dont understand, it could be any day, because if one is saying the truth the other could be lieing. On sunday we dont have any information, so its the same. That problem is silly.
ptolomeo
I dont understand it, it could be any day. I see two possibilities, either muhendisabi gives us a convincing solution or this thread is deleted. I think that post is nonsense.

I thought he had answered it.

It can be any day except Sunday or Monday.

If you're still stumped then don't try and figure it out in your head - go through the days of the week on paper and see what days the puzzle holds for.
