Joomla Components

I want to install a guestbook and the phpbb addon frp the joomla cms ( Joomla! 1.0.11 Stable [ Sunbow ] 28 August 2006 20:00 UTC)

I go to the installsite for components and choose the zipfile. After klicking the "upload & install" button I always get this message

ERROR: Could not find an XML setup file in the package.


And if I upload the whole folder and install it from the server directly it says that the folder "com_[name of any other installed component]" is already in use.

Does anybody have solution for this?

Did you try unziping the package to see if the xml doc is there? Is this the first time you have tried to install this component?

Jep. THe xml file is there. Ant it's the first time I try to install any component on Joomla. The "Istall from Server"-function does also not work. Joomla creates a folder, but obviously doesn't set the chmod, so it can't copy the files into the componentfolder.

Could this have anothing to to with Save_mod? That it's the wrong status?

Which phpbb component are you using? Are you using a bridge or a integrated component? You might want to try a diffrent one. There are some others located at Forum Extensions

Easy Guestbook Component

I just saw, that the phpbb is only for Mambo Sad
But still the guestbook isn't working.

After this, if you have any links to phpbb forum for joomla please post here. Thank you. (Or if you recommend another boardsoftware just tell me)
