I was trying to install PHPBB and I got this Error after I submitted my form:

Can somebody help me out here? What exactly does this mean? Do you have existing tables in the database? Drop the database and recreate it again. It might be caused by an incomplete previous installation. If you are installing phpBB on Frihost, I think you could use the Fantastico software provided with cPanel.
Not everybody has Cpanel anymore (not me). But do drop the database and remake it.
Actually, I have tried deleting the database and re-installing it .... but it still happens, I'm really frustrated ..... please help me!
Okay here:
1. Delete phpbb forum directory.
2. Delete mysql database
3. Download the "9ZIP" file type from the downloads section on phpbb.com.
4. Upload the downloaded file
5. Click Extract, and extract it into the directory you want.
6. Recreate the mysql database
7. Install phpbb
This is a great way to install phpbb without extracting the files onto your hard drive. I think this will work, if you are using frihost.
If you are not using frihost please follow these steps:
1. Delete phpbb forum directory.
2. Delete mysql database
3. Download the ZIP file type.
4. Extract all the files onto your server
5. Recreate mysql database
6. Install phpbb.
