CGI path in Server 2

k_s_baskar
hi,

i tried to run a cgi classifieds script in my frihost a/c (in server 2). But i am getting a 500 internal error

Quote:
Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@pcprice.info and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Can anybody tell me the perl path in server 2

i tried

#!/usr/local/bin/perl

thanx in advance

Smile

Try it without the local directory. But most likely the 500 error is due to something else.

Thanks a lot for for your kind response Admin,

Still it's not working. I think i am doing something wrong. I tried hello world program

Quote:
#!/usr/local/bin/perl
print "Hello World\n";

in url http://pcprice.info/cgi-bin/hello.cgi

and

Quote:
#!/usr/bin/perl
print "Hello World\n";

in url http://pcprice.info/cgi-bin/hello1.cgi

but both programs or not working.

500 Internal Server Errors are usually caused by a miscoded .htaccess file. Laughing

But i did't modify .htaccess file. I am using default .htaccess file provided by frihost. Smile

.htaccess files are default in hosting accounts, although they are normally blank. You are able to access and edit them as you wish - it's certainly not created due to a virus.

You need to put something like below in the file, otherwise it will give an error.
Code:
print "Content-Type: text/html\n\n";

http://pcprice.info/cgi-bin/hello1.cgi

i think its working fine !

http://pcprice.info/cgi-bin/hello1.cgi

Yes, that's because I put the print thing in it. If you remove it again, it won't work.

Thanks a lot. Now it's working fine.
Very Happy
