A bit of light relief… belly buttons and the bible.
If Adam and Eve were created by God and not born of woman would they have an umbilicus, commonly called a navel, or belly or tummy button?
In all the pictures and paintings I have seen they do but would they really have had them?

Where's the poll option for 'it doesn't matter'?

I didn't offer one, I thought if it didn't matter that much then people would simply not bother answering.
Guess I was wrong.
I did however make it clear this was not a serious scientific study of any kind...
Conceded, but still, it would be nice.
Myself, I figure that they did, just not normal ones. I figure it's a part of being human to have a navel, but those two wouldn't have one that was developed from a scar of removing the umbilical. It'd be smoother, but still there, I suppose.

So there you go then you should have clicked YES (scratches head) and erm NO.
Oh dear, maybe I didn't think this whole poll idea out as much as I should have.
I had to say no. Even though I consider myself a christian, I don't believe in Genesis as literal truth. Since I feel the story is simply allegorical, I don't think A & E actually existed, therefore they had no lint collectors.
But if they DID exist, I would guess that they didn't have them. I don't think anything physical defines man. Man is man because of his soul. Anything physical is just an effect of this world and is not important. So the navel is a just scar and A & E had nothing to cause the scar.
Another line of reasoning might go like this: The only function of the navel is to collect lint. Since God didn't plan on them wearing clothes, the lint collector wasn't in the design specs.
