Tryin to find a WYSIWYG editor (for windows) that is free. Anyone got some good ideas? I think this may also be a good reference for the newbs, so please post a few factoids about each one you've tried. Please, dont mention Dreamweaver, we all know its good, but that comes at a price for those of us who legitimately purchase software.
Free wysiwyg editors?
I have found an excellent freebie with nVu. It has a version for Windows, Linux and Mac.
*It has a site manager that connects to your FTP and transfers files, or organizes them locally.
*Allows tabbing of multiple files.
*Real-time spell-checker.
*Markup Validating
- I can't seem to make a div layer using absolute positioning automatically, This being the main reason I use a WYSIWYG editor.
- Lacking in many advanced features, all of the essentials are there, but the stuff thats a bit harder to do without this sort of program is all missing.

NVu is quite okay, but can't be compared to dreamweaver or GoLive. Unfortunately there are only very few free Wysiwyg-Webeditors available.
If you think about developing ASP.net-Sites, MS Visual Studio Express Web-Edition (not sure, if this is the right name) may be a good choice.

Kompozer and Nvu have almost identical layouts and functions. Even most of the program files are the same.
If KompoZer is running and you attempt to launch Nvu, another copy of KompoZer will launch.

I found one called HTML kit, its alright, its nice for previewing and the sort cause it lets you preview your HTML in a browser window, though ive found alot of bugs already so I hardly recommend it.
Im really looking for one that actually allows you to edit the size and shape of objects in the GUI end, and add layers using the div tag.

HTMLKit is very good. There are numerous extensions available for it also.
