Come on. I'm an American, but you gotta love rugby. Does anyone agree with me? Does America even have a team?

There is already a RUGBY thread http://www.frihost.com/forums/vt-48772.html
And something very interesting is - the USA (or more correctly the Stanford Rugby Team ) is the current ( and last ) holders of the Olympic Rugby Gold. (1924)

about the world cup.. i'm very interested in pool D.. argentina, france or ireland???
Rugby is a great sport. I'm so very glad to hear that come from an American point of view. The game to me has always seemed to be lost in the USA as American Football is so huge out there.
In my opinion rugby is a far better game than your football but that is only my opinion, I don't want loads of angry Americans yelling at me

Rugby's the only sport we play in NZ (if you listen to some people) and we're looking good for the World Cup. You could say I-am/we-are big fans here.
(Now if we could only pull our collective fingers out and get organised to host the following one in 2011)
BTW noliver. Why can there not be more than 1 rugby thread? There are heaps of fanboy threads for Soccer.

Good question . I think we must start to subdivide this forum.
do you play rugby union or rugby league? which one do you prefer?
I'm a Union man from a few years ago. I used to play for a Gloucester team Called Spartans who were a great bunch of guys. I also played for Hartpury College and the Gloucestershire Rugby Academy.
Other teams in my past are Newent (in Gloucester) and Llandaff (in Cardiff).
I've now gone back to supporting my 1st love which is football and sort of forgotten about the rugby.

I just play for my school (Brighton College) in the UK. I scored a try today in practice...I'm pretty sure it was my first ever.
One thing I like about rugby is it's democratic like that...I don't think I touched the ball once in American football.

I dont like Rugby.. is too much for me!! I prefer something where you have to use your mind instead of your body!
In england, rugby (union) is primarily a public schools game, the working classes play rugby league, rugby league is a far superior game to its union counterpart, why it isnt as popular worldwide im not sure.
Love it.
To me, there doesn't appear to be any 'hooliganism' commonly found in Football. That's why I left the school football team to play Rugby.
The English Rugby teams are well mannered, and do come up trumps i.e. Jonny's kick. love it.
One downside, it can hurt....
