FreeBSD, pkg_add

Cyano
I'm trying to use pkg_add to add ghc, the Haskell toolset.

When I search the ports, I can see it there - but when I do

pkg_add ghc

it says it cant find the remote package.

Does anyone know if I need to put the version numbers in of the package I am trying to download ?

I am using FreeBSD version 5.4.

I dont really want to upgrade my base version as it is nice and stable.

I need the Haskell kit for work Sad

pkg_add will not work unless you specify the version number since the packages on the central server have their version numbers stamped upon them. You will also need to add the tbz extension.

If this does not work RTM.

Did you try pkg_add -r ghc?

Since there is no package support on the official FTP for the 5.4 version, you should upgrade to 5.5 version. Why don't you install ghc from ports?
