Well he is visiting Turkey. Good thing I think.
The Pope is humble and did apologize already for some misinterpretations around his speech.
Does Turkey now show his good side?
Good thing, openness?

Actually, he only apologized that it offended some (most, (all)) Muslims. He didn't apologize for what he said.
Right. He did, however, quote some other pope that basically said he loved Turkey and its people. I think that comes pretty close to apologizing.

and he declared his support for turkiye's eu membership.
The Pope wants to improve relations among world religions (which, of course, was met with Muslim protesters). He also wanted to visit in order to represent the countries 30,000 Roman Catholics.
30,000 Roman Catholics and 72 Million Muslims. Hrm.
In order to improve relations among world religions, you've got to respect others' religions. He is obviously trying now to improve his image in the Muslim's world, and that's a good thing. I think his visit has made a success.

Agreed, despite those who don't want him in Turkey - cooperation between religion is needed.

With Pope Benedict XVI’s historic and eventful visit to Turkey now over, the pontiff especially mentioned Turkey's Catholic community during his traditional Sunday blessing from his window overlooking St. Peter's Square.
"I was able to celebrate Holy Mass with our brothers and sisters," said Benedict.
In his first public statement since the end of his four-day trip, the pope said his voyage to Turkey was, "an unforgettable experience."

The historic visit of Pope Benedict XVI to Turkey is worth billions of dollars according to tourism pundits.
Almost every instant of the momentous visit, the pontiff's first-ever visit to a Muslim country, were broadcast live worldwide. This is interpreted as a serious yet inexpensive contribution to the promotion of Turkey.
The messages of peace and reconciliation between Islam and Christianity the pope gave in particular during the visit as well as those regarding the Catholic and Orthodox churches raise expectations for the tourism sector in the coming period.
Authorities from the sector say that the papal visit was an invaluable opportunity offered to Turkey.
Tourist spots in Turkey such as the Blue Mosque, where Benedict XVI unexpectedly turned to Mecca in a gesture, the Hagia Sophia and the House of Virgin Mary near Ephesus where the pontiff visited are expected to attract huge interest from the Western and Christian world.

i think both of the sides are happy because of this visiting.
i seems result is going to be better than the beginning.
I think it is quite something that the pope stepped out and reached out to meet with the Turks. They themselves should not fall in the everlasting self-pity, based on the crusades of ages ago.
The turks themselves were invaders another thousand years before and they brutally murdered out the folks that lived there at that time.
nothing changes. But what makes a difference is that one man steppes out on behalf of many to meet and greet with the turks and open possibilities for future cooperations. That is courage. No selfpity.
