It depends if it had a graphics card already fitted or not.
If it does have a dedicated graphics card, it's technically possible. However, the replacement would need to have the same motherboard interface and voltage rating as the old one. If it's an older laptop, it's quite unlikely you'll be able to get a new graphics processor that will work in it.
However, if it has "Intergrated Graphics" as is quite common with notebooks, it's not possible for you to upgrade to a dedicated graphics processor as the motherboard will not have the required slots available.
