Can I know something?
What is the main difference in Linux and Windows? I've never used it so can anyone explain?
This is too generic a question to be asked here. You can google and you can find loads on what you are asking.
There's tons of differences, as mentioned above try Google.
you might try Linux on CD or DVD just to see small demo of Linux
you can try:
Knoppix http://knoppix.net/
Morphix http://www.morphix.org/
DSL http://www.damnsmalllinux.org/
Knoppix is the most popular especially it's provided with many tools like OpenOffice to view document and spread sheets, also provided a web browser for internet, email software, system tools & some fun games

It depends... others say that LINUX is more powerful than windows in terms of security. LINUX is said to be faster and light. But they say it is not user-friendly. ...they are right just read more articles...Justify it by yourself...
Depends.
Windows 2000 seems to be to operate much faster in a GUI environment but its shell is horrid for the OSes needs.
However Linux is much better from a command line perspective, but I find X to be quite slower than Win2K's shell - with an 866 Mhz processor(my standard test to see if an OS is worth it) the mouse flickers unless you use the standard X mouse, and movements seem to lag and jitter.
