I heard they had managed to make one recently... there's a newspaper article about it (my parents told me) but it all seems very low key. Had anyone else heard anything about this? I tried Google but it brought up the stuff I had read years ago.

I may of heard something. Do you know whether it involved the splitting of a nucleus? (or is that some random thing that I'm getting confused in)?

Very interesting. I had heard of Hawking radiation, but had never read into Stephen Hawking's theory about how black holes die.
Most of this stuff is theoretical and at most they cant sustain the backhole for long periods of time because of how much power it draws.
The black hole is like the worst appliance ever it sucks and it gives you a huge electric bill.
Now only if we had cold fusion!

Do you know guys that the science fiel that has the worst problems is Physics.. they are deep in problems.. all what you hear or read about such thing ain't true!
