There's a topic called Small List of Free Apps that will prolly have it. Like an OSS version or something.

Good luck, post back if you find something.

This is not really my field, and I don't know the features or interface requirements that would qualify as "good" for you, but would Virtual Dub suit your needs, or is that too simplistic (or just completely inappropriate)? It certainly is free, and has quite a number of adherents.

I went through a lot of free applications back when I started video editing, and I'd honestly say - apart from you mentioning not saying WMM2 - to use WMM2... I doubt you'll find a better one for free. Even some cheap ones (£20-30) are not as good. It's frustrating once you get a bit more complex as I've mentioned in other threads but it should do nicely for some simple editing.

But the reason I want something else is because I want something that can put things into reverse. I could use VirtualDub, but I don't think that that can produce the effects, resolution or file types that I want to use and put in reverse as well. It would just get too complicated!
Josso
I'm pretty sure you can do that with some cheap programs. I had a problem in Premiere where I couldn't find reverse... but then I realised that it wouldn't be an effect and I was being stupid.

If you want programs that can give you effects and everything then you'll have to pay, there's no free software that is that good

A lot probably, I didn't look at the price (probably make me cringe Laughing) but here's the official site. The minus trick might work in other less expensive software though I'm not sure.

Look up reversing video with AVISynth. You need to download AVISynth and Virtual Dub to do it completely but it works quickly and easily. Search on google for a tutorial.
