What's your favourite type of drums?!

glabase
Hey,

Inspired by the post, What's your favourite guitar, I've decided to ask "What's your favourite type of drums?!"

Personally, if I had the money, I'd go with DW drums - the collectors series seems awesome! Cool

For cymbals, probably Zildjian Ks.

Either that or the Paragon range from Sabian - pero necesitas mucho dinero! Laughing

What kind of kit would you go for? Wink Cool Very Happy
S3nd K3ys
Does this count?

Wink

J/k I played drums long long ago and don't even remember what kind they were.

Oh DW, definately. With a steel Black Panther aux snare.

Tama Iron Cobra double kick pedals (Already have em Wink )

Cymbals:
Zildjian Dark K 13" hi-hats
Zildjian A Custom 16" Crash
Sabian AAX Ride
Sabian HHX Crash

It'd go something like that.

Oooohhh... nice spaz-o! Cool

Like that colour too. What kind of drums have you got yourself?
Ozzy
I dunno.

I'd buy anything that plays well.

In my past bands my drummers all had different kits.

In my first band the drummer had a Tama kit, Paiste and Zildjian Cymbals.
In my second band the drummer had a Yamaha Reyden kit
In my third band the drummer had some custom Zildjian drum kit.
...And in my current band the drummer has a Sonor kit, with Paiste Cymbals.

I have a Tama Rockstar (black wrap, which I hope to refinish soon), Iron Cobra double kick pedals, Pearl, Dixon and Yamaha hardware, Gilbratar rack, Tama piccolo snare.

Cymbals go something like:
14" ZBT plus hats
16" ZBT plus crash
20" ZBT plus ride
16" Zildjian thick crash
20" Zildjian hi-boy china
8" ZBT plus splash
10" Sabian china splash

I really can't wait til I can replace my cymbals. I bought it all second hand and haven't upgraded anything yet, been spending money on guitars and CDs since then. Which means I really need to get a job Laughing

You can't go wrong with Yamaha sets, especially with Sabian cymbals.

Hey there.

I am an avid drummer and have played on all kinds of sets. I happen to lik eteh tone of Gretsch drums the best. Their new kits are really nice; suspension mounts Jasper shells, etc... Hot!!!

I have an older kit from teh late 70's early 80's. I will post a picture soon.

I have updates it with some new cymbals and a DW 5000 double pedal.

Favourite drums: Pearl Reference (only a few made though, they're just to show off what Pearl can do and are way out of most budgets and needs), or Premier (only top of the range stuff though)

Favourite cymbals: Sabian Hand Hammered (those are my ideal, Pro Sonix for buying with a low budget Laughing )

Can anyone help me out a little?

My friend wants to buy a drum kit, so I'm trying to give her some advice on which kits are good. I'm thinking Gretsch Catalina, PDP FX or MX, Yamaha Stage Custom Advantage or Mapex Pro M.

The budget's around 1-2k Aussie dollars, and preferably with cymbals but it's cool if there's none. Preferably with hardware. It's gonna be used for home practise and minor gigging. She's a beginner, but this kit's gotta last for a few years without coming apart, at least.

Any insite would be appreciated, because I don't know that much about drums. I only know what I pick up from forums and other drummers Laughing
