Moving my forums

Eyre
I originally had my forums installed on a directory of http://www.mysite.net/forums. My site went down hill and i decided to change the subject into something different. Now i i don't want an actual website, instead i want to just have the site show my forums when someone types in http://www.mysite.net. Is there a way i can move my forums from /forums to the root directory?

Select all the files (tick the checkboxes on the right) and add them all to the clipboard, then go to your root directory and click "Move Clipboard Files Here"
Also, you will need to edit your config.php file and change the url to access your forums.

it depends on the forum.

on nearly all forums, you can just move them, but you also need to change the forums record of where it thinks it is.

some forums need you to edit the config file. others want you to change the db.

i can do it for frèe if you want
Blaster
just put a redirect from your site to the forums. Its the easiest way to do it in my opion.
Manofgames
well, you ould do that, but it doesn't look as good as mysite.frih.net .

mysite.frih.net/forums looks slightly odd to me.

But then again, I am a bit fussy Very Happy .

You could also have a frame in your rott, with 2 frames, 1 top like 1pix high and the bottom linked to /forums.

Pls tell us what kind of forum software you use....
if you use phpbb2 you can just move the files, then login into your acp and then change the urls in the configuration section. Also you need to modify something in your db, therefor login into PhpMyadmin and select your forum database
you can do a search in phpmyadmin to the wrong url and then modify it.(use the search button in phpMyadmin)
