Extraterrestrial Land/Name

Does anyone here think that buying a name for a star or land on mars/moon is a good present idea, this is not a joke, i mean it.
I would quite like a 'reddishblueisawsome' (no reddishblue is not my name) star, what do you guys think, and while we are at it what would you guys call your own star.

Buying land on the moon, a planet (other than earth), or a star is ridiculous. All those companies are just fooling people into making money in return for nothing other than a piece of paper (saying you own the land). In reality, if people ever inhabit those planets or moons the land deeds given by these companies would never be respected by the world's nations. It just won't happen, they aren't going to be liek oh you broguht an acre for $20 ok its yours, because they will want it and you have no way to stop them. The companies that sell such deeds think they have found a loophole in the The Outer Space Treaty of 1967 and the Moon Treaty of 1984 (which basically say no country can cliam extraterrestrial land) by saying that it doesn't exclude people from claiming the land. They claim the land and sell it to people who think they actualyl own the land.

In my opinion it is realyl stupid to buy extraterrestrial estates because it is a waste of your money and time and you are just pushing these companies to get richer of nothing (they have already made millions). And answering your question about whether it is a good present: it really depends on the person (whether they will appreciate a piece of paper saying they own land they'll never be able to do anything with).

I am not exactly sure how the whole process works, like who sells the name and what do they do with the money? it seems that space is the final frontier and we are currently trying to map it. to name a star means that that name will be on the star maps from now on; and there is a certain desire to have something of my creation go down in history. it would be nice if the money went to a charity or to further some space program that i was kept aware of.

my name:

BeFree star: so that who ever looks upon it knows that there soul is truly free

if the company is trustworthy and if you did buy the land there and if it was really yours then i would do it, of coarse it has to be cheap.

Yea but the thing is no one who actually has a say in the matter will follow what the company says it has sold. The stars sold won't really be changed to the buyer's name on starmaps, textbooks, etc. It is just a scam to make money and I guess the people who own the businesses can arguably be called brilliant since they have found a way to make tons of money from nothing.

Of course they can't legitimately sell extraterrestrial land...
Especially not on Mars. (I've already claimed Mars and both it's moons as my own.)

Nobody's actually ever determined if deeds to land on the moon are valid or not. Quite possibly these things won't be determined until we actually go back to the moon. Then when different people who bought the same land from differing sellers sue each other the courts will be left to figure it all out.
