Video Card Upgrade

snowboardalliance
I have a Diamond Radeon x600Pro 256MB and was thinking about upgrading because the prices have gone down a lot.

Should I get an x1600PRO? Something else? Just want some input/advice. Thanks

Switch over to nvidia, much better tech.
If you have the money get the new 8800 GTX but the best deal is the 7600GT for $125ish, then when the better and more price effective cards come out with GeForce8s grap that one.

Yeah wait for the new 8800 to come out, then go GeForce. Last ATI card I had was X800 XT and it was pretty sick in it's time but I'd advise you to go for GeForce, they are helpful especially if anything goes wrong.

With the price tag on the x1600Pro, I would say sure. The 7600GT outperforms it though: http://www.gpureview.com/show_cards.php?card1=350&card2=385 and it costs a little less, so I would consider that as a better option...

How about one of these?

I would only do it if I can get a deal, but I don't want something unreliable. Just a thought still, but do either of these look worth it? Any recommendations on which brand?

Not to much diffence between the two, I just won the eVGA 7900GT and if runs fine. Haven't tried Biostar yet, but it looks to be the better deal.. Same clock speed but comes with a high resolution, not that the 7600GT runs that great at the high res any ways. But for $100 the price can't be beat. It has no reviews so it is the new verson I would think. No matter what, Newegg is good on their warrenties, so your safe either way. But if I had to pick it would be the Biostar

Don't get the x1600pro, it really isn't that great of a card.

Like others have suggested, you can go for the 7600gt. And if you want a bit more performance, the 7900gt is pretty nice too.

If you're looking at the midrange, ATI X1650 is a very very good bargain and so is nVidia 7600GT.

Just wondering, but what exactly is the x1650xt? I really haven't heard much about it before, and looking at the specs it seems quiet unbalanced, with 24ppl and only a 128bit memory controller.
