My names Jeff....first time i've tried this sort of thing, and i'm just looking to test things out and see how it goes before I try anything big.
Anyone got any tips for making a website and getting it up?

Well, to start a website, your gonna need a basic idea of HTML. Use some tutorials for that eg. www.w3chools.com
Then, once you have made a few pages, try learming CSS, that'll help you style your pages. hey, Jeff! welcome to frihost.
Have a look around the forums here, your bound to find tons of stuff to help you get started. If you get stuck at anything just ask in the appropriate area and im sure someone will be able to help you out!

You can signup at the sharing site esnip.com for free and then search for "html dummies". Someone has the entire book in PDF format and you can download it... OR Google for HTML tuts, then do javascript then PHP, and PERL... YOur choice.
