When I was searching for free domain registration, I never found anything. I found a few inexpensive ones though. Some people really like GoDaddy.com. I take offense at the name though. I happened across a deal that Yahoo had going at one point. It was pretty cheap at the time.
Any domain registration site should allow you to search. All of the domains I wanted to register were already taken so I have to choose something a little different. Many of the domain registration sites will make suggestions based on your original search.
