IP header field for Protocol

akshar
As per my knowledge an IP packet ha got a header which contains a field for protocol name.

However certain protocols above Transport layer directly use IP packets by bypassing all TCP UDP or SCTP.

E.g. protocol is OSPF

So please tell what the header field will contain under such cercumstances?

Or is it that my question is not so clear?
