typo3 is very popular in the meanwhile. it's opensource (so free). and there 's tons of extensions.

Wordpress and Joomla are very popular (and excellent to use) too.

you can also try drupal. it's a little more social orient but very modular and strong:

btw - i wouldn't recommend phpnuke, bad experience with security for me.

I only say e107 it is slim and fast, really like it. Its also very easy to install plugins to it just one button. And it exist a lot of different extension and skin to it
