lock all topics in announcements forum

This is just an idea and feel free to ignore it but it would be easily implimented and I for one would greatly appreciate it.

Lock all the topics in the announcements forum. As far as i'm concerned, the only time I should see a new post in that forum, is for a new announcement. It is, in my oppinion, very annoying to go into this forum which (i thought) is meant for administrative purposes for forum wide announcements just to find that someone else has rated us 10 at clickherefree. I mean, it's a nice sentiment but, do i really want to know?

can't agree with that since there are also times were the members should contribute their point of view towards that particular news...

..although it's the admin's decision

We lock them depending on the topic.

If its something like "Vote here etc!!", why should we lock?

But if its like forum rules, duh !

Yeah, I know...you come to the forum index page, and see a red folder icon on the announcements section, and you must read the post as you don't want to miss out on any announcement.
But soon you find out that it was just that somebody has voted for FRIHost (I'm not discouraging people from voting for us)

and yes, it can be annoying to some if it happens so often.
So...anybody got ideas ?
