Hey people, I am planning to buy a new display card, any good suggestion? Budget is not a problem
Display cards
u mean video card?
ATI Radeon X850 XT or GeForce 6800GT.
ATI Radeon X850 XT or GeForce 6800GT.
I'm sure jaleung ment video card. (Display card.. what's that?
).
The highest end consumer video card available right now is the
nVidia GeForce 7800 GTX 256mb (I think)
It costs about $700-$1000.
There's also the
nVidia GeForce 6800 GT Ultra (256mb/512mb)
It costs about $500-$700
And the
ATI Radeon x850 (256mb)
It costs about the same as the GeForce 6800.
If your mother supports it, get a PCI-Express video card. Its a technology that came out recently and replaced AGP cards. All the cards I've listed supports both AGP/PCI-E formats (except the GeForce 7 one). I hope that helps, and you're lucky you're getting a new card. I'm stuck with a Radeon 9200 (128mb). Hahaha.

If budget isn't a problem then one card isn't going to cut the job. You need SLI or Crossfire.
Top of the line:
For NV: NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GTX SLI (512 MB versions x2)
For ATI: X850 XT Platinum Edition CrossFire (256 MB versions x2)
Enthusiast level:
For NV: NVIDIA GeForce 6800 Ultra SLI (512 MB versions x2)
For ATI: X850 XT CrossFire (256 MB versions x2)
Down the stream: x2 6800 GT/6600 GT for Nvidia
x2 X800 XT PE/X800 XT for ATI (X800 XL but not really better than the X800 XTs)
You'll probably be looking at some very expensive motherboard, Socket 939(AMD, supports DDR) or LGA775(Intel, supports DDR2) with PCI-Express.
The 7800 GTX definately stands on top with 24 Pixel pipes and massive Vertex/Pixel shaders, but the X850 XT PEs are very nice too. You can get 2 X800 XL 512 MB versions, but X850 XT PEs kill them hardcore.

the best one is geforce 4 xxxx

Depends how much money u have, if you have a small budget then get Geforece 5200 fx about £40 or the overclocked version about £50. Hope that helped, wish i had $1000 to spend on a graphics card would last me ages.
if you don't have much money and you want a better card, try X550
