I have backup of some DVDs in .VOB format i want to convert the same to .AVI.

To convert .VOB to .AVI
Well, if there's an IFO file with the VOB it generally makes it a lot easier (if there is a way to rip straight from VOB please let me know in this thread, anyone else). I advise if you have an IFO on the DVD in the same directory as the VOB to use AoA DVD ripper... it's worked for me pretty well so far.

What you need is a DVD ripper. Just search Google for the string "Free DVD ripper" (without the quotes) and you'll hopefully find a decent and reliable free DVD ripping application.

You can also just search for dvd to avi, I used to do that but I can't remember the program name since I have deleted it...But I know there is one out there

Try SUPER: http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html I'm not sure if it converts DVD but I think it does. Try it
typically WinAVI will do the job. It's the best video converter out there.
i think there is a software named something DR. i dunno the full name.
