ASP.NET 2.0 supported?

Dragonfly-online
I tried uploading some asp.net files and they're not displaying correctly. Are they supported or will i have to find a new host?

help!

Seeing as you've been here a while, you should know ASP is not supported. FriHost uses Linux servers, not Windows servers. So no form of ASP or aspx is supported. Laughing

The relevance is that asp.net is a windows technology, and thus is only supported on windows servers. THe frihost servers run unix. Therefore, they cant do asp.

That's not entirely true.

It is possible to do ASP.NET and ASP on Linux (see http://www.mono-project.com/ and http://www.sun.com/software/chilisoft/ )

However, there are no plans for making either available on FRIHost.

Also, who would use Microsoft technology on Linux? It would add so much more complexity (not to mention the security holes! Razz). I mean, how would COM be implemented in Linux?

php is so much better than asp, php is also open source. So what is the use in supporting asp ?

There's just not enough demand. People moved on from ASP that stayed mostly the same to similar languages like php that were updated a lot more often and came out with new features that beat ASP.

Good luck finding an ASP host. They're quite rare in general, but the free ones especially. There's so little demand. Most people wanting free hosting are just starting out and tend to learn php because they see it more.
