I've just finished watching Michael Moores "Bowling for Columbine," for about the 3rd time and its just capped my thoughts on the US.
Over the last few weeks, I've noticed, little things about the US Culture...and I'm just wondering what are you thoughts about why....
- Over 11,000 People are killed per year, by just firearms in the US
- Greater Racial Prejudice.
- A need to be the "protectors of the world."
- An unstable society.
- An "Holier then thou" attitude.
- A Lassiz Faire attitude towards the its own Citizens..no health care etc.
- A law suit nation.
.....and lastly...a lack of basic manners....most important obviously. I mean the basics of saying How are you?
I live in Ireland, a real land of the free! We have been declared as the best/nicest place to live and are now richer per capita then the US.
We have
- Free Education
- Free Health-care
- Excellent Social Welfare system
- Great Recreation facilities (eg a €1 Million Park was just built beside me)
- Great Infrastructure
- And my favourite, a friendly atmosphere and extremely laid back attitude.
Maybe, I'm just fuelled by too much news, but this is just the general impression I get about the US.
To any Americans.. Is any of the above true?...what is everyone else's view?
