I happen to be a motorcycle fan and the proud owner of a 2006 SV650 naked. http://davedough.homestead.com/files/DaveSV.jpg . Just wondering if anyone else here shares the 2 wheeled passion.
Anyone ride motorcycles?

Lots of us do. I have a TL1000 (Suzuki), my wife has a GSXR750 (Suzuki) I also have a DR350 enduro.
I have been riding cross, but quit some years ago. After that I bought a yamaha XT600E offroad (but also street legal).
but since a car is more usefull in swedish climate I bought a car instead.
Bikes still have a special place in my heart though... and when the urge for 2 wheels gets too strong I take out my 100cc minimoto and take a few laps around the block (about as long as you can drive before the neighbours calls the cops)

Cars are more useful here (Denmark) too, but I rarely drive one. Have a (probably inherited) deep dislike of cars - their looks, their sound, the way they take up space in the city (in spite of most people using them to drive to work, one person in a car fit for 5 or 6).
So, bikes in the Spring, Summer, Fall, mostly walking in the Winter. Alas, no more riding until March or April.
Have a Ducati S4R (and before anyone starts talking Ducati-maintenance costs, I've not spent much of anything on it for the 3 years I've had it), and recently traded my old R6 pop-bike (
) in for a 2006 Suzuki GSX-R 1000 - a nice speedy alternative for the road
Only thing I felt lacked on the older models were braking, the 2006 has fixed that completely.
And congrats on the SV650 - especially on choosing the N. As can be seen from other threads, I still love that "little" beast - even if I never had one (might have had one if it had existed when I started out), it's still supreme fun to ride. Considered getting an aftermarket pipe? It can really bring out the beast in it

i dont know how to ride but i think some one can heşp me from here to learn more information about how to ride:D
I had a '99 Kawi EX250 Ninja. Call that a bike or not, it wasn't that bad. Piped, jetted, and filtered, the thing went pretty good. But, that doesn't negate the fact that it was still a 250cc motor.
I sold it last year, and bought a Civic. I miss the old days.

I'm envious
i ride a 99 suzuki gsxr 750, but have parked it for the winter now

I ride a Kawasaki ZX10R, 2005. Am just dusting it off for summer now...
motorcycle in our place is so common they are everywhere. it's good because it saves you from gas.
nice bike. I don't have one and really couldn't find the time to even if I did I guess. I have a few friends thought that ride. Maybe I'll get them to give me a ride some day

Blah, you have no idea how much I wanted a ZX-10. Awesome looking machine, and one of the fastest things on the road.
When I was out in Calgary, I went to Blackfoot Motorsports, and saw a ZX-12R for the first time ever. I sat on it, and that thing was massive. I wanted to take it home so bad, but I guess it wouldn't fit in my carry on bag on the plane.
If I ever get another bike, it's going to be a ZX-6RR, then either a ZX-10/12. That new ZX-14 looks horrible.
Never really got the hang of riding a motor cycle, prefer cars myself but then again riding motorbikes must be real cool
I haven't had a bike for a few years now, and I've been itching to ride again the whole time.
My dad has a Harley, and my joke to him is to hurry and pass away so he can leave it to me.. I know it sounds sick but we both laugh over it. He was feeling old and gray and I convinced him to get a girlfriend and he's acting like a kid again.. it's great!
Anyways as far as learning, in the US almost every major city offers motorcycle training courses dirt cheap. I didn't go that route myself because I was raised around motorcycles, but a good friend of mine did and he rides quite safely (which used to scare me, being he was a horrible driver of cars).
A benefit to taking this course though is cheaper insurance rates.. pays for itself in the long run.
The thing you have to remember on a bike is that nobody sees you. You have to develop a sort of "radar vision" and keep track of EVERYTHING aroudn you, and you can NEVER assume the right of way, period.
I honestly believe that 95% of people involved in motorcycle accidents probably had no business being on one in the first place. If you want to ride irresponsibly do it on a track or offroad so when you screw up, the only person you hurt is yourself. If you're on the roads, you have no business being crazy.

Greetings all!

I'm a mature Englishman living & working in the Netherlands (That's 'Holland' to the uneducated!) for 'horticultural' reasons and I've been a motorcycle lover since 1975, when my cousin took me to a racetrack on the back of his Honda CB500-4.
I could fill several books with my (mis)adventures on 2 wheels over the years, but for now it will suffice to say that I am currently the owner of 2 almost-identical Kawasaki GPz900R A-1's which I ride for work and pleasure every day, even through the worst of the dutch winter.
To illustrate HOW I drive, last week I paid a 300 euro speeding fine for doing 97 in a 50 zone. I HATE speed-cams!
For my next '2-wheeled mistress', I'm torn between sticking with my favourite marque (The big 'K') or switching back to Honda with a decent 2001 or 02 model VTR1000 SP1.
EVERYONE who has 'bike-fever' is a person to be respected, in my eyes. Yes, our passion could kill us (or worse!) but while we are doing it,
WE REALLY KNOW WE ARE ALIVE!

Blessings to all bikers out there in FriHost Land

I currently have a Honda 01 CBR929RR. I've been riding for many years. Let's see if I can remember them all..
Kawasaki EX500
CBR600
another CBR600
Virago ( I think it was an 1100)
GSXR750 that lasted exactly one week and was stolen out of my driveway.
another GSXR750
Kawasaki Vulcan Classic 1500
Harley Sportster 1200
I think that was all of them.

I'm not too much of a motorcycle fan. Although I don't have experience in actually driving it, I have ridden them many times. Although the thrill is enjoyable, I'm more fond of cars.
However, I have once tried to build a motorcycle, mostly composed of a normal bike and a small scooter engine.
Though, the outcome wasn't so great.

I would really like one because of the gas mileage that they get. I also hate driving a car when I'm by myself because it feels like a waste to be driving a car that can fit a bunch of people and then being by myself.

Back from a 3000km tour over New Year and have seriously renewed my love affair with this bike. Spent some time with a 6R rider. They're really pretty good too. If I was gonna get something smaller it would be one of these. Took care of me through the bends...
I've just finished a three year restoration on a 1958 Vespa VNA; It is still summer here in Australia so I've been trying to get out on it every day. I have to say, it is a sensational way to get around town... next trip to europe will most certainly involve motorbikes.. cheap, fast, easy and fun!
Happy riding folks!

Been riding for a number of years, had my fair share of spills but I keep coming back ... I guess once you're bitten by the bug you stay bitten.
Here is my bike history ... as best as I can remember.... LOL
Yamaha FZ1e ... Blew it up racing a mate
Honda c90 .... I needed it to get to work .... what can I say.
Honda CG125 ..... great little bike but totally gutless .... Stolen
Honda CB125 Super Dream....... Nice bike ... till it had an encounter with a tractor and came off second best......LOL
Yamaha RD250LC .... what a flying machine ..... just didn't stop very well.
Yamaha RD350LC .......even faster with even worse brakes
Kawasaki GPZ600R.......Nice bike to ride .... till I got rear ended by a young lady in a Golf GTi. Busted bike.... busted me.....Ouch
Kawasaki ZX6R ...... Holy cow..... a rocket ship. One week before trading it in I got side swiped by a spoty youth in a baseball cap driving his dads car without permission. Busted bike... again ..... busted me...again.....but I still got off better than he did..LOL
Honda VFR800 VTech .... As I got older I decided to get a more relaxed style of motorcycle. Lovely bike but had no soul. Especially after I met a lady in a Volvo overtaking a lorry on a blind bend on the wrong side of the road at a combined speed estimated to have been 150MPH minimum. .... you too will believe a man can fly. 2 weeks unconscious, 10 weeks in hospital, busted pelvis, broken left leg, smashed left collar bone, busted ribs etc etc etc. Did I learn my lesson .... HELL NO!!
2 weeks short of a year after the accident I bought a 2004 Triumph Daytona 955i ..... Fast ..... too right it is...... Was I scared when I first got back on 2 wheels .... like you wouldn't believe but once I'd done it ..Oh boy what a feeling.
The surgeon who put me back together again, my wife and my kids all think I need locking up but they don't have the bug like I do.... LOL
Me and my Banana

Me and my Banana

I ride a bike. One of those small cc bike that are called cubs. Amazing how I can go 50km per liter of petrol. Meaning a week worth of transport cost( roughly 100km) me would be around USD2. Hell, a short taxi trip would cost me USD4 already hohoho.
Wish that I had realised how much better small bikes are far superior to big bikes long ago. Didn't realise how you could go 3 times the distance by settling for a practical bike. Made me feel guilty about how I was helping to destroy the environment for years.
So those of you still on gas guzzling monsters... I urge you to do the right thing and switch to something that conserve the ozone layer for those who come after us.

tearing up the highways daily in los angeles on my duel sport. We get to split lanes here in CA. Which means I drive up the middle between cars. Oh how I love the rush hour traffic.

I have a Suzuki V-Strom 650 and a Honda ANF 125. Here in Greece motorcycles are very popular.

I just have a moped now, but i will get a motorbike later. My moped is just like a motorbike but it only haves 50cc engine, and i want to get bigger soon. 15 years old just cant drive motorbike in finland! Maybe i have more money too when i am older. Motorbikes are so expensive today.
I have a suzuki v-strom DL-1000. I've got always fun if I ride this bike, it's just the right one for me - I feel me very confortable. Before I hat an old yamaha XT 600 with only kick startet.
GO! Suzuki! I can't ride. I tried but the bike fell on my stomach. So sold it to my brother. I now ride on the bike on the back or I just model on them.
