Dou you really know or think why the rich governments dont helps the poor??? I think because they want power if they give food and health to poor goverments, all the world will be equal and that is no convenient to them.

The power corrupts, and is no love in that, there is not control in that situation because they want more arms and bombs and militar technology and destructive machins and not use that millions of money in food, clothes and medicine for the people.

Not sure what you mean by "don't help the poor".

The US helps poor countries all the time. Especially in times of crisis.

On another note, think of it on a local basis... if you're rich, do you feel the need to share your wealth with your neighbors? Even though they didn't earn it and perhaps don't deserve it?

Giving money to poor governments isn't going to improve the life of the people in those countries, it's just going to make a few already well off people a bit richer.

Living in the second-poorest country in the Western hemisphere, I can say that one reason that it seems that way is that the money sent from the governments of the rich countries to the governments of the poor countries is often pocketed by the politicians of the poor countries, with very little of it actually getting to the people or projects that need it. For example, the U.S. sent a LOT of aid here after Hurricane Mitch, but much of it never actually made it to the people who lost homes to the storm nor to the bridges that were destroyed.

Certainly, there are other factors, but this one of the big ones, and does make it seem as though no help was actually given.

I suppose this is where the social Darwinism theory arose - the poor deserve to be poor, and the rich deserve to be rich. Survival of the fittest, applied to society.

Although poverty is bad, I guess if you've earned your money honestly, are you obligated to share with others? In that same sense, our United States government is quite poor... some $8 trillion defecit or something, and yet we still try to help out.

The US helps poor countries all the time. Especially in times of crisis.

He does have a point. The US contributes an amazingly small amount to foreign aid once you consider the relative size of economies. It is overwhelmingly and shockingly richer than the rest of the world, yet it really contributes very little considering. That includes both government aid and private aid. By comparing the relative economies, the US comes up very short on foreign aid. You do know that, when corrected for GDP, America ranks dead last amongst developed nations for foreign developmental aid, don't you?

You're asking sneaky questions. Sure no one feels obligated to give to people who didn't earn it or deserve it. But what about people that need it? If you had resources that you didn't need, and were faced with a neighbours that would die without them, wouldn't you give? Or, if you prefer, i can phrase it less dramatically. If you had resources that you did not need in order to maintain a comfortable and healthy level of living - in other words, these are resources that if you gave them up, you won't have to significantly change your lifestyle - and you had a neighbour that lagged significantly behind you financially, to the point where their standard of living is such that you would consider it absolutely intolerable to live like that, and you are aware that their situation does not exist by choice, wouldn't you give up those extra resources to them?

And if the answer is yes, then the next logical question is... why don't we?
