Milblog crackdown

Apparently, the military has started to crack down on Milblogs. Normally, of course, I oppose the government trying to censor pretty much anything. But with this Milblog issue, I tend to agree that there should be some censorship. Even seemingly innocuous information can wind up killing people. I do, however, think they should try to more uniformly apply this rule. It looks like from the article no one really knows what's going on.

What do you think?

I read the article earlier today, and agree whole heartedly with the U.S. military effort to monitor and censor blogs.

As usual the Pentagon is playing catch-up. Information technology changes faster than military policies can keep up.

As a naval officer, I can tell you that maintaining operational security is a constant problem, a problem exacerbated by modern technology and everyone's access to it. Personnel very rarely intentionally reveal sensitive information, but can easily do so accidentally. We conduct training on it constantly but still the problem persists.

Quoting the World War I slogan also in the article, "Loose lips sink ships."

Respectfully,
M
