SSI problems

riv_
I'm tryingto use an SSI on my page.

It's a simple file (One div, code works if pasted directly onto the page)
name d "xxxx.shtml", in the same directory.
And I've included it like this:
Code:
<!--#include virtual="xxxxx.shtml" -->

But it's not showing up. Any ideas why?

Hmm.. Check your error log to see if anything was output into it.
Otherwise, if it's just a simple file, you can use PHP to achieve the same effect:
Code:

... Stuff here...
<?php include "xxxxxx.html"; ?>
... More stuff here...

Just make sure that any files you use PHP commands in have a .php file extension Wink

great idea. I've just discovered, however, some sort of problem with my error logs - so i'll have to fix that - again - if I can.
Otherwise, using php would obviously be easier. however, this page will be exported to a host that doesn't support php (it's for my dad)... so i need to make the SSI work.
Any more helpful suggestions...
(I've been having problems getting a bunch of stuff to work, even though everyone tells me the code looks fine - not sure what's going on, and my error logs haven't been helpful (they keep disappearing when the server crashes)
I am SO OPEN TO SUGGESTIONS!

Which file in question is it? And more importantly, it's ending in .shtml? Otherwise the ssi isn't parsed.

"icons.shtml" is the included file... (Yes, .shtml) (it's in the "dad" directory.)

No I didn't mean the included file, that one doesn't matter. It's the one where you include it that has to end in .shtml.

yeah, sorry, only posted half of the reply.
Anyways, knowing that it should have worked, I just continued along with and uploaded the expanded file again.
it works now.
I don't know... can't imagine what happened... I didn't change the SSI part of the code, or the file extension...
Thanks anyways. I really do appreciate the help.
