José Luis De Jesús Miranda, a Puerto Rican who now has an organisation headquartered in the Miami, Florida area (specifically, Miramar, Fl), calls himself "Jesucristo, hombre" ("the man, Christ Jesus), and has attracted a large following of people who believe him.
Using the faulty exegesis and out-of-context, short-phrase prooftexting common to such claimants, he says that he is:
(Source: His webpage - the Scripture references are part of the quote, not something I added)
Several months ago, I had heard some comments about his visit to Tegucigalpa (the capital city here in Honduras), but I didn't get very much information (not even his name) at the time, so I didn't look into it any further. Three months ago, however, I visited Costa Rica, where I saw a large billboard for him which not only mentioned his Messianic claims, but included the phrase, "Presidente Mundial" ("World President") - something not as prominently displayed elsewhere, but still findable among the writings on his website.
