Layout and Template Tutorials

Ok so ive been searching the net alot and i havent found a good tutorial for making layouts.
What i want is a simple 2side or 1side navigation. I want it to be like this :

--------------------Banner--------------------
Navigation----------Content--------------------

Something like most anime websites.

I think It´s no complicated thing to do that layout.
i always use fixed width (740) and centered, with that same layout.

most anime website uses phpnuke or other portals...

by the way, u need to learn html at the least or use softwares like frontpage/ dreaweaver, etc which will generate what you want.
