Loan for the poor - Mohammad Yunus

Dear all netter,

Have anybody watched the discovery channel about Mohammad Yunus?

He is from Pakistan, and won the nobel in Economics.

His idea about the loan for the poor is indeed vey creative and I have to say he is very persistance and very brave.

One of his interesting finding during giving loan to the poor is that women are more responsible than men in term of money hence giving loan to women are less risk.

With this finding, he changes the requirements for giving loan. He requests the borrower (normally man), shared the 50% money with his spouse.

Anybody in this forum, know additional information about this gentlement?

I want to study further his work and the loan.

You got your facts a bit wrong. Muhammad Yunus won Nobel prize for Peace (I know it would have made more sense if he had got it for Economics). Also he hails from Bangladesh (former East Pakistan).

Does anybody know whether his bank has been implemented anywhere else? How about in India, has anybody studied how to implement the Yunus' Bank?

Yunus Bank is not a unique initiative. A lot of organizations have promoted a system named "micro credit", which delivers loans to poor people in South Am or Africa.
Have a look over Wikipedia ( key : microcredit) or over Google.
Some organisation are focusing on women, because they assume that in some countries, men are buying weapons instead of tools & seeds.

In Europe, this phenomenon is part of a more global concept named "durable development" or "durable growth". This concept has been initiated by ecologists, but is progressivly empowering amongst other politicl classes.
