I need some major advertising tips

My boards always die, and I have a curse with advertising. So, if someone could give me some tips, that would help a bunch!

*I already have my site on Google, and MSN

*And I have an account on www.ts25.com, but no clue how to advertise there

Different types of sites require different types of advertising, post your site so we can get more of an idea.

This isn't really advertising but it helps. Start of with less boards, so it looks like your forum is more active. You have a few boards there with only 1 post in them, which makes it look inactive so people won't want to join.

Also make your site look better. Is it a custom board? If so maybe get someone to make a cool skin for you if you can't.

I agree with the less boards. Also, have you considered concentrating on a single theme or topic? That way you have something that can attract a nucleous of people interested in the same thing. If it branches off into other things, great.
It just seems everyone and their brother has a forum just about whatever.
Think about the forums you participate in. Why did you join?

And, not trying to bust your bubble, but forums and boards are notoriously the WORST place to put ads. I know a owner of a very popular forum who told me nothing is more frustrating to have 20,000 page views in a day, without a single click. It seems posters get oblivious to the ads around a forum. Of course there are exceptions.

On any account, Good luck!

Honestly he probably had terrible ad placements, forums are hard to monetize but it's very possible.

Oh, I agree. It's very possible. I just can't see a lot of these "Anything Goes" forums generating a lot of income.
I'd love to know how much a forum like Sitepoint generates in revenue. The whole site revolves around web design. Practically everyone logged on to the site is there to have a question answered. In the midst of this atmosphere are ads about every aspect of web design- along with books to purchase.
Hotscripts come to mind also.

PS- Saw your thread about putting the images next to the Adwords. Nice touch. How is that doing for you?

If I was getting 20,000 page veiws a day I would put up CPM ads, not CPC.

You know, I thought that myself. I just figured he knew more about it than I did.
Say, How much can one make with CPM ads? I have a site that gets about 15,000 page views a month...now the content is spread out over about 100 pages. I have adsense, but it's slow. I'd love to find a place that would pay me for CPM ads.
