I have tried various versions of quicktime and quicktime alternative without any success. I have a 2.53P4, 400FSB, 1gig ram, plenty of HD, XPpro, all the latest windows updates, video and audio drivers. I have tried uninstalling previous versions prior to installing new revs.
I quit trying to get QT to work on my pc several months ago.
I am now open to trying it again.
Any of you have any success in getting QT to work on a difficult windows pc?
Thanks
Jeff
Nope, not much. Sorry! I have this problem too, does anyone know how to fix it?
Why do you need it? Just for .mov's?
If then, just get the codec, should be in the k-lite codec pack, get it at free-codecs.com
That should fix it
let us know.
Like Jaan post, you might need to install extra software. Have you installed version 7.1 of Quicktime? then it should work.
If it still doesn't work install VLC it can play mov files and is 100% free

VLC can play nearly all formats.
Thanks LethcanAernis,
I uninstalled all quicktime stuff in the control panel/add-remove programs option.
Then I downloaded QT 7.1.3 for windows at apple.com . But it was a .DMG file and windows didn't know what to do with it.
I then downloaded a .exe file from majorgeeks that installs QT 7.1.3 in windows.

When you run the installer write down what folder it installs to.
You may have to change the default folder that windows looks at to find the quicktimeplayer.exe file.
Here's a site that anyone can use to if they got QT installed right.

Thanks again
Jeff
it may not be quicktime at all it may just be the file you are using is corrupted.
What message do you get when you try to run the file?
What file is it?
Would you be willing to let others try it out to see if it works on their computer?
if the file downloaded was a .dmg file, that is a Mac OS X disk image, and can't be used on a PC.
Try going to
http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/win.html
to download QuickTime for windows.
On that page, you can chose between a package that installs iTunes along with the latest version of quicktime, or just the quicktime software.
Try with Klite mega codec full version. It's free.
So did it help you? does your computer still hate mov files?
Installing the QT 7.1.3 fixed it.
i suggest try vlc player it uses lesser memory... and can read .mov files too.
