Synology NAS Server Upgrade

marioflory
Hello everyone

I wantet to know if there is anybody reading this that has already bought a synology disk station or the linksys NSLU2 USB. These NAS are quite easy upgraded to low cost linux servers running a special linux distro for NSLU or a full debian linux.

I'd like to hear some experiences as I just bought a Synology DS-101 and will upgrade it to my new Linux toy soon.

So long.. have fun

Hey Geeks

I'm a little dissapointed because nobody replied to my post. Anyway.. I found some decent webistes that explain a lot. But I'm not sure yet if I really want to sacrifice the really really nice functionality of the firmware provided by Synology. Lots of features already built in... but still I would like to give it a do it yourself-touch.... I think you know what I mean.

ok then

I'll post some results soon
