Can nuclear power sustain the peace in the world?
Nuclear Peace !
no way ... actually .. u should as this question to urself ... as ur from India and ur country is now the nuclear power .. so, what do u think ? Does India's nuclear power sustain the peace in the world ?

Only when the powers in the world respect life, as do the Russians and Americans.
Unfortunately, there are a shit load of Radical Islamic Muslims that don't give a shit about life and therefore would be a major threat if they possessed nukes.
I'd say the israelis have proved their worth in the whole respecting life thing in regards to nukes better than any other country... no other nuclear armed country was nearly wiped out multiple times without firing nukes.

No I don't think so, because there will be continuous jealousy as to who possesses more etc.

No. I don't think so. Look at how many the US had when Russia surrendered? They didn't have a problem with how many. They still have more than enough to deal with most situations.
Nuclear peace is an oxymoron. War will start whether we have massive bombs or not, and the consequences will be all the worse if we do. Even if humanity were to actually become humane - and somehow I doubt this happening while we're building weapons of mass slaughter - then all it takes is one madman or complete moron and we've successfully wiped ourselves out. Oh, wait - that would probably be GOOD for the world. Do continue wasting resources on constructing our own doom. 
nuclear peace could be only possible if it was restricted to its usage, and as we all know those who posses it really loves to show it off.. i personally think thats not a possible solution to anything, nuclear program such as to generate electricity do no harm, but those which will kill the innocents no matter HOW.. wont ever end things up for peace atleast.

I think that the nuclear bomb is the most impractical weapon for use in war. It has the potential for way to much backfire. Environmentally speaking its a lose lose method of fighting.
I can understand the desire of countries to possess it, in a world were the greater powers already have this weapon. Its like standing up to a bully in a way. Showing equal ability to thwart oppression etc etc... In that sense I would say that yes It can create a certain amount of peace.
but as "S3nd K3ys" mentioned there are radical forces that will disire to use such a weapon for the sake of mass murder. Its a technology that we cannot erase from our global knowledge, and will forever be a threat. Even with heavy regulation there is always the threat that some crazy a** Hole will build a bomb. As long as such a threat exists there cannot be peace.

It cannot sustain peace because the longer that countries compete for power and the greater the competition becomes, increasing tension develops. And in my mind a nuclear war is in no way peace. It takes one power to spark off everything. Hopefullyyyy powerful countries will just act responsibly, however this world isnt perfect.

What was offensive in his post? I ask honestly. He referred to radical Muslims...do you disagree that they exist?

Not to be forgotten. They were used to end a war...a war where 60 million people had already died. The U.S. used two atomic bombs in 1945, 61years ago. If Hitler, who was also conducting research in atomic weapons, had got to it before us, what do you think would have happened?

I agree with you here, Russia has not had the best history of showing respect for human life...when it was a communist nation
