The situation in American schools has reached such dangerous levels with school shootings occuring so frequently and much of the school voilence going unreported. I wonder how these kids learn this much voilence. All these events mean that children in American schools are taught voilence and terrorism. These schools are just like TERROR and VOILENCE breeding grounds. It becomes more horrifying by the fact that People in America have access to all kinds of lethal weapons just like their dangerously armed Government and Millitary.
All this and the fact that about 60 percent of americans suffer from MENTAL DISORDERS makes USA very dangerous for the world.
I think there must be a U.N. backed program to reform schools of USA, and there must be a U.N. force to disarm American civilians(particularly children).

Oh I'm sure they're not "taught" and that schools are not terrorist training camps.
It's just that schools happen to be the only place where kids are forced into company of others for extended periods of time, a company that they cannot choose.

I agree with you on the part about gun culture.
With all the tools of death readily available at many homes, what would usually be a petty fist-fight at schools in other countries, becomes a massacre in America.

I believed the figure was close to one in every four people, can you share the source of that piece of information ?
Also, the figure includes absolutely all diagnosable mental disorder. Capitalising the words doesn't make all the metal disorders "very dangerous".
In America, if you feel stressed over your work, chances are some doctor will manage to diagnose you with one or the other of these mental disorders. Wink

Do you have any idea what the purpose of U.N. peacekeeping force is ?
Quote:
Deploy to prevent the outbreak of conflict or the spill-over of conflict across borders;
Stabilize conflict situations after a cease fire, to create an environment for the parties to reach a lasting peace agreement;
Assist in implementing comprehensive peace agreements;
Lead states or territories through a transition to stable government, based on democratic principles, good governance and economic development.

As you can see, police work doesn't seem to be up on that list.

Yes, it is a dangerous situation when schools are so easily invaded and shot up and very simple and effective measures could be taken to keep our kids safe.

The issue is that the killings are like the puss from a wound. It is a byproduct and not the problem. Work on fixing the problem will make the shootings lessen.

I'm pretty sure every government is "dangerously armed". Otherwise, I don't know... a crazy dictator might just come in and take over???

Not sure where you get 60 % of americans have mental disorders. Maybe 60% are rednecks, but not so sure on mental disorders. 60% of 250million is.... 150,000,000.

The UN can't even keep the hundreds of nations in civil wars and border wars safe. Every day thousands are killed across the globe compared to how many American school kids?

Look at history... whenever the only people with weapons is the government and the criminal, you have an issue. I'll keep my guns thank you. Plus I like to hunt and it's a lot harder to kill a pheasant with your bare hands!

Haha! Good one. I almost thought you were serious until I looked at the last link. Should I move this to the jokes section?

If, on the off chance you ARE serious, you better post your sources on everything in your post rather quickly, or else this topic will be removed, as per the rules.

Actually, the UN is trying to control American's guns.

UN to Americans: Give up your guns

Americans to UN: Go ****** yourself

Continuing Crisis in New Orleans’ Schools
By Jordan Flaherty
From Left Turn Magazine, Fall 2006

This week I visited New Orleans’ John McDonogh High School, where students organized a press conference to call attention to the conditions at their school. At the school, which is is one of 17 former city schools now under state control, security guards outnumber teachers, school lunches are sometimes served still frozen, and many textbooks and other vital supplies are unavailable. The state-run school district began hiring teachers just weeks before the school year started, and is still short 21 teachers in its five high schools. “Our school has 39 security guards and three cops on staff, and only 27 teachers,” one McDonogh teacher with 250 students on her roll explained. Young, untrained, security guards were involved in three fights with students in two days last week, she added.

is it really possible in usa?
i mean
in turkiye we have some real education problems.
but even in the most problematic high school,we don't have this kind of situation.

Bang on.

Anyway what right does the UN have to tell a country how to run itself? Guns are an internal issue for a country, it does not affect world peace like the N Korea situation so I don't believe the UN has any right to say anything. That said USA should wake up and sort it out themselves.
