Which is better?
BMW or Mercedes?
I personally like BMW's better right now :

The 6-series actually do look nice, but the new S-class is just a new milestone in automotive history, whereas the 7 series lags behind.
The new 3 series actually looks like a japanese car, which isn't good at all.
Besides, what does BMW have in comparison to supercars as the SLR and the CLK-DTM roadie version? Of cource Mercedes is better than BMW in terms of quality and finish.

Because BMW gives more security and performance. I've never really been interested in either, but if I had to choose one, I'd have to go with Mercedes. I love the looks of the SLK 350, especially after it's been through the Brabus plant.
But, then again, I like BMW as well. More of a compact, sporty feel to them. All good in their own respects, I just know I'll never own one. Merc for me...
both are poser cars, but well built and tend to be fairly quick. Mercs are just sleeker imo
Mercedes is the best for me. i don't like bmw or known as bmx hehehehe it's to common here in our place.

This is a beautiful car. My best friend, basically my sister, drives one 
BMW 750Li. V12, OMG FING AMAZING CAR! Before you know it, you're up to 120... And oh so pretty. Talk about comfy.I have myself mercedes sprinter. But find bmw more beautiful.
I think that mercedes is more elegant and better than BMW , cause, BMW is more like sportly.
but if you want to give me like gift a BMW i will not get mad!

Mercedes has a very nice and luxurious finnish. But if you want to have a chick magnet I think a BMW will do the work better.... a lot better 
Buy an older BMW from the M3' series, put on some nice body kit, and tune it a little... at least that´s what I´d do if I would buy a beemer.Mercedes is better. I can't name my daugther BMW now can i? *grins*

BMW should have better handling I believed I like BMW. Some Mercedes designs are very serious/unsporting. It is like just a box. But BMW looks pretty better than Mercedes at all
seriously having driven both companies and various models I cant say.
Both are finely made machines with great engineering. I find the bmw more sporty on the whole and the mercs more luxury. But not so much anymore with various new models.
The mercs are still slightly more of a status symbol than bmw's here in the usa for older people.
But the younger folks clearly choose bmw. Both handle well, are very fast and ride better than a caddy.

You'll find that the preference here is probably affected by age. Older people will invariably like Mercedes, while the younger generation likes the beamers. In the US, Mercedes is still considered an upper-class car, but I understand that in Europe & other places, MB are a dime-a-dozen; being used for taxi cabs, etc. Even a lot of the newly-built MB look out of the 90's. BMW can be sporty or luxurious, depending which model you buy. I personally think the 5-series is a nice mix of both, for a decent amount of money. Had opportunities to drive 7-series' for a while, & I fell in love with them. I personally love BMW - they feel like a much more solid car. Sturdy is Good

Here in the UK, they're both very common. Our traffic police use both, and tbh I think they prefer the BMW!
I however, prefer the Merc.
Both manufacturers make good, safe, fast cars. Both make good looking cars, but have been known to make ugly cars aswell.
So, if I think they're as good as eachother, why would I have a merc over a BMW almost every day of the week...? Well theres a stigma here in the UK which usually holds true, and that is that BMW drivers seem to think they own the road - and tbh, i think thats probably the only reason!
People will probably take offense, but I personally think its down to comfort (which is a good thing ofcourse, but you become too relaxed), and alot of people probably buy BMW's assuming they're 'fast', so overestimate power, etc.
Just my thoughts!
(PS. I love german cars)S class > 7 series.
E class > 5 series.
C class > 3 series.
Performance wise BMW does better than it does when it comes to standard production cars.
The M5 and M6 are both insane cars that look fantastic, Merc I feel has been left behind in terms of performance but the new engines will certainly win me back.
Apart from the 6 series BMW's coupes and convertibles are crap where Mercedes has built an excellent line of cars like the SLK, SL, CLK.
Then there is the SLR which is a very nice car, not really fair to use it in a comparison though.
Merc have commercial vechiles, vans, etc BMW has motorbikes so I think Merceded wins on that front.
And now for the final point experience, my expereince. Dad was driving and forget the details a dickhead BMW driver wasn't looking where he was going and narrowly avoided a serious collision with my Dad's car (E240, the model before the current one). The 3 series BMW was current at the time (2002) and what a surprise when the mirros hit his came flying off and was completely broken, ours was fine. So there we have it Mercs are made better!
For me Mercedez rules, I don't know why..Somehow riding a mercedez sounds more appealing than a BMW..

Oh my god! I have never seen that picture before!!! Drooling all over my keyboard here.
I love Mercedes, some of the older models because all the new S, C and E clases look much alike these days and I am sure they come in other colours apart from silver (that said I like silver).
Comparing a Mercedes to a BMW is like comparing a Politician to a pop star. Poles apart and they appeal to very different markets, and as mentioned above, different age groups.
I also like some of the older Mercedes which had much more clearly defined personalities between the S, S and E classes.
BMW are bringin out some stunning cars laltely but I like the Mercedes Pedigree.
Jeremy Clarkson (all hail) came out with a little piece of info in last Sunday's Top Gear program, Mercedes spend £1,000,000 a DAY in research and development! How can you fault commitment like that?
And don't ask if this figure is correct - Jeremy Clarkson (all hail) said it so it must be true!!! 
It's got to be Merc.
Comfortable, powerfull a breaze to drive and safe.
Pitty it's to expensive for me!
Mercedes I feel is better. I love the look of a black C-Class Mercedes a lil over the S-class. But I personally love BMW.. it jus looks sportier and more my style.
To me Mercedes is better, but i'm a mercedes fan. But BMW is getting closer and closer.
Some of these kinds of cars do not even come standard with an oil level dip stick anymore. No thank you.
I personally like BMW when it comes to modernation. Because mercedes, As far as I knew was came from an old model and old standard.
