This is from a magazine my mother used to read when she was a kid. It's name was " Soldiers of god ". It had kind of good moral stories and stuff. Well, sacrifices to save sinners was another section in it, in which other kids sent stuff about the things they did to Save Sinners. The magazine was more related to Christianity, and I am a hindu, but I liked it.
But I, you, we all can take up the stuff that was in the Sacrifices to save sinners. It can be pretty small things, like resisting the urge to drink water when you are really thirsty, or not reading ur favourite magazine till the next day, or whatever. Do what you can, and post it here. Take it up as a challenge. You may think that these are just stupid beliefs, but I dont. About two good deeds every day to save a sinner from the everlasting fire of hell
to heaven.
I repeat, take it up as a challenge. Do stuff like what i said above. Do Two good deeds a day, and post it here.
what is the name of this believe?
There is no name, i think. It is just kind of our belief. You know, when you are in trouble, you pray to god, and then you promise like "If you help me out of this, I will do so and so." That kind of thing, i guess.
How will me not drinking water when I am thirsty help anybody?
No david, I was just stating an example. You read everything about the magazine and how kids sent things to it, right? Well one such story(incident) of a child was that he was very thirsty at the lunch break. He went to the water pump(they had kind of hand pumps there) and VOILA! there was a long queue there. But he di, you know what? He pumped water to about 20 students without drinking water himself. After that when it was his turn, the lunch break was over, and the headmaster came and told him to go to class. He was very thirsty, but he beared it for the sake of god, and for the sake of some sinners who were saved by his good deed. I hope i make my point clear?
This doesnt mean that you have to start another RED CROSS
By the way, this is just something from a magazine! IF nobody is interested, mods please lock this topic.
Interesting. I've never heard of anyone hoping their good deeds would increase the merit of others, rather than their own. I suppose it's not that big a leap from the inter-connectedness and sense of reciprocity that's common to many east Asian religions. In the west, no one would believe that one's good deed could save another's soul; the two individuals would be considered completely irrelevant to the issue of the other's sin or merit. Thanks for making me think.
Well geez, I mean I'm a little busy right now doing absolutely nothing. Maybe when I'm done relaxing...
I'd honestly never thought of anything like that; the concept is really quite foreign to me.
Even as someone who wouldn't yet define herself as 'Christian', I suppose I often ignore the cultural impact of growing up in the Christian West.
I'd have to agree with Eggg.
Topic moved to "Philosophy and Religion".

Eggg,
The entire "purgatory" system of Roman Catholicism is based on the idea that the prayers, sacrifices, and piety of those still here on earth will move their loved ones from purgatory to heaven.
So the idea that the works of others will somehow merit the person the work is done for is not so foreign in the west.
Hi,
All the humans die, ok? but why we die? the pay of sin is death, Adan sin when disobey to God and then he and all humans die from that day, Jesus comes to die for Us , why? why Jesus? because He is God, He is the only that can comes and die for Us , and the only that do it ,no human knows how to save us only Him, He pay the rescue with his life. Now you want that rescue? yes? Only need to recognize that Jesus is the Lord an only one Savior, and turn your life and dont sin more.
If you dont want it, do nothing, do your life, and enjoy it at the last moment, adore another gods, your beign or nothing, buth remember There is a creator of the game, and He makes the rules, we follow the rules or not, but He decides who win and who loose.
