Astronomy and META-physics ?
What level and who is the audience ? I can help with astronomy and cosmology perhaps but not with the M word Chris rohan2kool
It is actually a school level competition... here is all the details they gave to us:

I see no mention of the word META-physics which is a relief. To be clear, meta-physics is the name given to the philosophical study of reality including God, human nature etc etc. It is not to be confused with physics which is a study of matter and energy and the links and interactions between the two.
OK. I'll knock something up in a while...I've just got to finish a song I'm working on first before I loose inspiration. Check back later on. Chris. rohan2kool
oopsy.. maybe i goofed up with the meta word... if that is what it means then it obviously has nothing to do with our presentation... silly me

No problem. In recent years meta physics is linked more and more to the more bizarre outreaches of pseudo-science and parapsychology which is why my reaction was a bit startled - very often an introduction to an article with the work meta-physics in it is enough to stop me reading at that point. This is not entirely fair because metaphysics is a valid field of study, it's just that the word has been slightly hijacked by the UFO/Crop circle/ESP/Telepathy crowd.
OK...to business. Expanding universe. OK. I can do that 1) Start by reading this paper - you can quote it all you like because I wrote it and there is no copyright or other restriction on any of my little papers and scribblings. (neither is there a guarantee of accuracy though http://camres.frih.net/resources/GeneralPhysics/universe-guide/universe-guide.htm That should give you an introduction to most of the important concepts involved and give you a rough overall picture of what is going on. Now, to be more current and up to the minute we will need to consider slightly less readable material in the form of scientific papers. I'll go and dig aroud my library first to see what I've got and then I'll check out a few friends and acquaintences who are 'in the field' to see if there is anything up to the minute with which you can impress your teachers. Start with this article though. It's fairly easy going and is a good basic intro (at least I think it is). Chris. Related topics
