Changing the phpBB email greeting

ChrisCh
Hey there. I want to change the email greeting that is automatically sent out to people when they make a new account on my phpBB forum. The message it currently sends out is:
Quote:
Welcome to ..::: ChrisCh Student Network :::.. Forums

Please keep this email for your records. Your account information is as follows:

----------------------------
Username: ***
Password: ***
----------------------------

Please do not forget your password as it has been encrypted in our database and we cannot retrieve it for you. However, should you forget your password you can request a new one which will be activated in the same way as this account.

Thank you for registering.

You have received this email as a ChrisCh Student Network subscriber (formerly known as Chris's Photos).

Also, I am wondering where to change the code to stop phpBB from emailing people when I add them to a usergroup on my forum. Does anyone know? Smile

You email message templates are stored in your language files under the email subdirectory. Dunno how to turn them off I presume the code to trigger it is somewhere.

You'll need to modify the file groupcp.php, it's around line 550. I haven't tested it out myself, but it should work in theory.
Code:
               include($phpbb_root_path . 'includes/emailer.'.$phpEx);
               $emailer = new emailer($board_config['smtp_delivery']);

               $emailer->from($board_config['board_email']);
               $emailer->replyto($board_config['board_email']);

               $emailer->use_template('group_added', $row['user_lang']);
               $emailer->email_address($row['user_email']);
               $emailer->set_subject($lang['Group_added']);

               $emailer->assign_vars(array(
                  'SITENAME' => $board_config['sitename'],
                  'GROUP_NAME' => $group_name,
                  'EMAIL_SIG' => (!empty($board_config['board_email_sig'])) ? str_replace('<br />', "\n", "-- \n" . $board_config['board_email_sig']) : '',

                  'U_GROUPCP' => $server_url . '?' . POST_GROUPS_URL . "=$group_id")
               );
               $emailer->send();
               $emailer->reset();

Needs to be changed into: (just disabling the code by changing it into comments: /* */)
Code:
               /*
               include($phpbb_root_path . 'includes/emailer.'.$phpEx);
               $emailer = new emailer($board_config['smtp_delivery']);

               $emailer->from($board_config['board_email']);
               $emailer->replyto($board_config['board_email']);

               $emailer->use_template('group_added', $row['user_lang']);
               $emailer->email_address($row['user_email']);
               $emailer->set_subject($lang['Group_added']);

               $emailer->assign_vars(array(
                  'SITENAME' => $board_config['sitename'],
                  'GROUP_NAME' => $group_name,
                  'EMAIL_SIG' => (!empty($board_config['board_email_sig'])) ? str_replace('<br />', "\n", "-- \n" . $board_config['board_email_sig']) : '',

                  'U_GROUPCP' => $server_url . '?' . POST_GROUPS_URL . "=$group_id")
               );
               $emailer->send();
               $emailer->reset();
               */

The email for approvals for the usergroups is around line 700. If you want to disable it too, you also need to comment it.

For the emails, it's in the language/lang_****/email/ directory. The admin_welcome_activated.tpl file. However, there is one for every language. Wink
