I've only read Franny and Zoey and Catcher in the Rye, but Sir Salinger is amazing. Too bad he's such a purist. Catcher in the Rye would be a fantastic movie.
Any other Salinger reccomendations?
Having just not gotten around to reading it for many years, when I did, I was totally underwhelmed by Caathcer in the Rye. I really expected more, but it got it for free with some throwaway books, so what the hell. But I did feel my valuable time was wasted.
Salinger taught me symbolism! I love Catcher in the Rye to death and it's definitely one of my favorite novels. I've read that he keeps a personal archive with publishing information upon his death in his home. If so, I want him to pump out as many new writings as possible before he dies--disgusting as that sounds.
