which program to cap from MSN

Hey guys...

since a while now I have a webcam, and since I use MSN a lot, I combine these 2. Now I'm capturing from MSN using RenderSoft CamStudio 2.0 a free to download program, easy to use but the quality is not the same as the webcam image I see in MSN.

Are there other programs available (free) to capture video (and audio as option) that are of at least the same quality as the image in MSN...because I know the cams are not always the same, but I'm asking for a complete copy of the image...

I know VLC (free, open source) has some capture options.
And don't forget about virtualdub (also free) it's very good, but may be too complicated for beginners.

Have to admit, Virtual dub is pretty complicated, I have that, but hardly put time in it to get to know it...I'm going to try VLC, I hope it captures video, right?

Have to admit that I don't understand this VLC. Tried to capture movie, but couldn't get to work it. If there are people with better suggestions...Let me know. Thanks
