I need to buy a new harddrive for my Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop... The one that came with it has corrupted to the point I'm ready to throw the whole thing out the window! What would be a good replacement? I couldn't find anything in the other threads.. So if there is already one out there point me to it please! Smile

Thanks!

A standard laptop hard drive would work, but I would try calling Dell tech support to get one that would not void your warantee...

The best deal that I could find for your requirements is here:

http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=A0612854

It is a 120 GB Wester Digital 5400 RPM drive for the laptop. It is going to cost you $104 + Taxes.

After buying that, you might find the following links useful in ensuring that you can get out started with your new drive with a minimum of hassle:

Hope this is of help Smile

Here's the cheapest one from Dell: http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=341-2053

But the 120GB is definently a better deal. Any standard laptop IDE drive (ATA-6) should work, and it is no issue because your warantee is expired. Here are your Newegg options: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.asp?N=2030150380&Submit=ENE&Subcategory=380&Description=ATA%2D6&Ntk=all

I guess you can just get any hard drive??? You should get someone who knows what their doing (if you don't) to install it to your Dell laptop. Have you tried hard drive rescue programs on it? Defragging it? That could save you a few bucks, instead of buying a new hd.
Cheers.

Great idea, but I think I should be able to handle it!

You dont need to buy one directly from Dell.
You can buy one from wherever they sell --> 2.5" harddrives.

I think thats sheeper! Smile

PS.
if you are smart you buy an 7200 rpm Cool
