I've started experimenting with Drupal (CivicSpace distro), and I'm already feeling quite frustrated. Almost all the themes screw up the layout - and I wanted to spend time on developing the site, not tweaking themes.
One thing is that not all the blocks I activate show up. They are enabled, and I've checked the configuration options - they just don't want to show up.
The Login block is especially weird: No matter what weight I give it, it won't float to the top of the sidebar. And this is in the Admin view - in the Site view, the login box doesn't show up at all. Yet according to the configuration setting, it should *always* show up.
The handbooks on the Drupal site aren't helpful, and I don't want to bombard the forum with newbie questions that probably won't get answered anyway. I'd just like to find some tutorials (especially ones specific to CivicSpace) that are geared toward the first steps in developing the site.
Ps. I'd really like to hear from some of the people who recently discovered Drupal and think of it as "fast" site development. I've had my site installed for a couple of months, and it seems like an endless round of enabling and configuring and re-ordering and praying nothing gets screwed up. If there's a Drupal-on-Rails approach, please let me know!
