What defines your ethics?

What defines your ethics if you are not a religious person? What standards do you compare yourself to? Do you have any ethical standards?

If you answered yes to any of the above questions: Why?

Mine are simple.
Do not kill unless for survival.
Do not steel unless for survival.
Help those who are in need of help.
Be respectful for respect is earned not automatic. (and by respect I don't mean a bunch of stupid pointless rules that some rich ass holes make up, just be a good person and not an ass hole)

- i pinch myself.
- i know it will hurt.
- if i pinch someone else, i know i will hurt them.
- hurting someone can result to undesirable events.
- or i simply do not want somebody else to feel what i feel when i pinch myself.

so i end up preferring not to hurt anybody. (most of the time)
