Any suggestions to buy a used car in Australia.

kiran009
Hi I am new to Australia. Can anyone give some suggestions on used cars.
I am planning to take small car like 1.8 L engine. Suggest me what all required to drive a car in Sydney.
I know we need to register ever year with RTA. And I am not sure about insurance and other required things.

thanks

Hi Kiran

Welcome to Oz. I think you should consider the Nissan Pulsar. It is reliable, has reasonable power (1.6l or 1.8l engines), decent sound system as standard, can be "hotted" up a bit with bolt-on bits, a wide choice of colors and has pretty good re-sale value.

Good luck on choosing.

i'm pretty certain the only compulsary insurance that you have to have is 'green slip' (third party personal injury insurance). if buying a car that's already registered you don't need to pay it until renewal time. apart from that all you need to drive in sydney is a licence i guess, perhaps an electronic toll tag if you are going to be using tunnels/freeways/etc
